Job Details: RN RequiredLactation Consultant (IBCLC/CLC):

The Mother/Baby Unit consists of 14 private rooms providing couplet care from postpartum to discharge. The level 1b continuing care nursery provides care to the neonate requiring ongoing nursing support. The working environmental functions within a multidisciplinary and culturally sensitive approach to couplet care that fosters early family bonding. This position provides an ongoing professional consultation and collaboration to various multidisciplinary teams to assure quality lactation care and optimal outcomes. Particpate om staff educational development activities along with providing evidence based expertise to hospital and departmental staff and committees. Promote and support Baby Friendly Program and baby feeding initiatives, objectives and recommendations.

Qualifications/Requirements Education/Training: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor of Science in Nursing is required for newly hired nurses Licensure: Current MA RN Licensure required. Certifications: IBCLC Board Certification or CLC, AHA Healthcare Provider BLS is required Work Experience:5 years recent experience in maternal child health nursing and 3 years lactation consultation experience with the Baby Friendly program preferred. Experience in writing and facilitation group/classroom instruction for both patients and staff preferred. Possess the professional knowledge of the breastfeeding process, antenatal, intrapartum, and post partum healthcare and psychosocial issues. Knowledge of premature infants and breastfeeding practices specific to the is population. Knowledge of breast feedign care and education principles, practice, procedure, and techniques required to assess learning needs and develop an educational plan and teach/counsel staff, patient/families and evaluate effectiveness of the instruction.
